Introduction to Contracts
We set up these contracts so that we will bring to awareness what we are each contributing to the maintenance of Dear Habermas, and so that we can hold each other responsible for those commitments. That doesn't mean that we become structurally violent over the reading of the contract. It means that we recognize that if one of us can't act for whatever reason, others need to step in to help to see that the commitment to Dear Habermas is carried out. That's what Gordon Fellman calls "the mutuality paradigm."

  • jeanne's commitment: To teach you administrative, editorial, and website maintenance skills you have committed yourself to learn. We will use Independent Study and/or Practicum Courses and/or Measures of Learning within selected courses to give credit for such learning.

  • Student Commitment: To learn the skills to perform the actual tasks for the maintenance of Dear Habermas.

Specific Skills
The following sets of skills will be taught:

  • html programming of the website
  • File Transfer Protocol for transferring files over the Internet
  • Basic editing; grammar, typos, spelling, etc., using software programs.
  • Conceptual linking in creating files. (Advanced)
  • Conceptual linking over left/right perspectives. (Advanced)
  • Indexing and indexing pitfalls. (Advanced)
  • Collaborative sharing of skills.
  • More soon . . .

Specific Contracts
  • Pat Acone: Will be coordinating the whole project and outlining the procedure as a Thesis Project.
  • Berthena Kemp: Will be working with Pat on her community involvement piece of the Dear Habermas community outreach component.
  • Charles Barlow: Will be coordinating a specific outreach component with parolees, an often neglected faction of our community outreach.
  • Tyron Turner: Will be assisting Charles Barlow in bringing our community outreach component to youth in crisis.

These projects will necessitate curriculum development in transferring learning theory and constitutive theory skills to the re-interpretation of curriculum for the specific local communities.

Attendance and Harassment

Date: Tue, 25 Sep 2001 10:31:41 EDT Subject: The Stork Has Arrived To: jeannecurran@habermas.org

Lakisha Miller

Jeanne, the stork has finally delivered my bundle of Joy! Her name is Mahkaia Sakari Lee, born on 9/20/01, at 10:18pm, she weighed 6lbs, and was 17inches long. I will be Physically in class as soon as I am able, but in spirit and via the internet as required. thank you for your understanding.

I will collect these if I am forced to, but I will regard it as harassment. To require me to do so is to turn what is a joyous celebration in attendance and participation into structural violence. For that reason, it IS harassment.
