University of Wisconsin, Parkside When a code, such as hf: 05.08.2011 jeanne, appears at the end of the statement of contents for that file, it indicates that the file is a Dear Habermas file (habermas file) that was checked on May 8, 2011, by jeanne. The presence of this code indicates that on that date the URLs on the file were functional, the links to internal site categories were functional for that date, and that if some links were no longer functional, they were removed and/or replaced. If there is no such code, that tells us that the file has not yet been checked in this cycle.
If the code is preceded by an *: *hf: 05.08.2011 jeanne, that indicates that whoever did the checking (in this case, jeanne) did not complete the process, so that there is a need to return to that file for updating. Once this first cycle has been completed, you'll be able to tell by that code when the file was last checked. If you encounter a file with errors or broken links, please e-mail us. At the very least we will put an asterisk tag on the file, and get to it as fast as we can.
This checking process began on 05.05.2011 and will undoubtedly take several months to complete. After all, the site has been on the Web and growing since December of 1998, first with CompuServe, and ever since with Earthlink. And when the cycle of checking has been completed, we'll start all over again, for the Web is a growing, changing forum that has turned this checking into an on-going job for web mistresses and masters.
We are building this directory, we hope, to make it easy for all of us to find what we're looking for. To that end I'm including under "t" for "teacher-student exchanges" the file "read11.htm." You will find the file listed thus: . . . (read11.htm) This code tells you that read11.htm dosn't go under "t", but the substantive material in the files, teacher-student exchanges on readings, does. The link will take you to read11.htm, so that you will now know where to find that substantive material.
In our public sphere development project, we won't have merely teacher-student discussions. We'll have open exchanges. But the teacher-student exchanges could be used as a pattern for helping us all improve our intellectual questioning, statement of key facts, and our argument skills. As I find the time, I'll mark any exchanges I find that I think might be helpful. If you find something helpful, you should alert me so I can include it. This file is open to everyone, for we are trying to open academy activities to the community for the benefit of both.
Now, as we shift our Dear Habermas site focus to include public sphere development as a means of re-establishing accountability to and responsibility for one another under the aegis of the ideology we express through our governance on all levels, we hope to extend the reach of the academy into the town, that both town and gown may come to shape a more prosperous healthy, happy and wise future.

Need to check out file it appears in, but I think it's from 9/11. Could also have been an inspiration for my weeping flag. jeanne- ffganesha001.jpg free form ganesha
Crochet free form piece that reminded jeanne of a Ganesha. Became a warm personal memento of many visits to foreign religious sites, like Ankora Wat. For sharing, became a memento of the good faith that most religious people have toward both a higher being and fellow humans. If it inspires someone, it might make a great gift. jeanne
