A Mentoring File to Get You Started

First, I promise that as soon as you give me some free time I'll take a course in portrait painting at The Art Center. But for now, you're stuck with what I can manage. jeanne

So much has changed over this last summer, that we figured we'd better get up some explanations.

  • sitemap - I don't have all these links functioning properly yet, but I know how to do it. Should have it done in a day or so.
  • indexes catching up - I add to them almost every day. Trust me, we'll get there.
  • shared readings - require a printed handout the week before the sharing, so we can all be on the same page - this should be a one-page handout, like things you gotta know to understand what's going on.
  • blogs - these are just wonderful collective diaries that let us exend our discussions past class time. Eventaully I'll add all the ones from past semesters. Eventually.
  • workshops on substantive discourse, illocutionary and governance - we'll be having practice discourse sessions for our Moot Court when we invite community professionals to share the discourse with us, and invite friends and family to come, too.
  • Professional work standards for judging grades and how that will work
  • objectives and outcomes - since we can't measure all of them, you may choose, but you must allow us answerability, meaning you can't totally ignore our objectives
  • gallery exhibition plans - Michael Griffin will curate - Dec 1 and 2 have been requested. And I put up a short example: Requiem for Race, A Favorite Cat, so you could get an idea of how our virtual exhibit works.
  • congratulations, you have an A, unless you totally screw up
  • you must be computer literate to do the work; but we'll help if you'll make the effort to come in

This should get us through to next week. I have two servers out of three not accepting my upload and I am planning a nervous break down over it, so be gentle. I'm not supposed to have to learn all this tech stuff at 69. jeanne
