This essay will deal with Edmund Husserl's phenomenology. Reference: pp. 359 ff. in Jonathan Turner's The Structure of Sociological Theory. Seventh Edition.

Husserl came up because of the Harry Potter article on phenomenology and Kant's Critique of Pure Reason. Husserl's is one of the names you should recognize as he was the one who laid the basis for phenomenology.

This was the start of the recognition that positivism neglected much of what sociology must account for. Phenomenology, ethnomethodology, hermeneutics, and aesthetics are on the side of that which lies beyond the numbers. More soon .. . jeanne
