  • Introduction

    Not only does art talk, we've discovered it talks loudly, and helps to get messages across by means we sometimes don't realize. Just look at what advertising can do. Health care is a prime example. Americans are dying at an alarming rate when they lose their health insurance or can't get health insurance. Insurance companies are spending millions and millions of dollars on advertising to insist that a public option for those who cannot afford private insurance will destroy us all financially. Progressives would spend those same millions to advertise the inhumanity of it all if, indeed, they had such millions.

    Corporations and hedge funds, because they are united in their efforts to make ever more millions (billions, now?) have the money to utilize our media for their own best interests. Progressives need to balance these messaages through creativity, if their perspectives of the issues are to be heard and be included in our governance decisions.

    Images posted here are available to all to use to further their perspectives, whatever they might be, so that we, all the people, can discuss the issues facing our society in all their complexity. There are no easy answers. There are no "right" answers.

    There are facts, though most facts can be interpreted differently in different contexts, by different cultures, by different people. Regardless of who's right about God or Gods and our theocracies and religious beliefs, all absolute, human-verifiable evidence is interpreted by, yep, you guessed it, humans. And humans are neither omniscient or infallible. Gods may be. But humans are not.

    That just means that many of the problems we face in modern global disbursement of scarce resources like land, water, energy are neither quickly nor easily resolved. Somebody's going to get more; somebody's going to get less; and somebody's going to get less than what is needed to survive in this human world. Short of manna from heaven to feed, water, and house all humans in a sustainable world, we have distribution of resources problems that cross over into politics, national sovereignty, personal issues of power and greed, and confusion.

    All the advertising out there, trying to persuade us of someone's perception of right or wrong, is based on solid theories of communication.

    art's role - putting all this into forms that we can all understand and then sharing that understanding with everyone we know and meet with.....
