Index of Topics on Site A Waterfall Card in Honor of James Brown

Cornell West once said that the responsibility of the liberal in conservative times is to keep alive the history of liberal times and values. That responsibility also falls to us to keep alive the culture we have shared. James Brown, the Godfather of Soul, passed early in the morning of Christmas Day in 2006. He was lively and joyous and made Blacks proud to be Blacks at a time when discrimination made that hard. Our responsibility now turns to keeping the culture he represented across America and internationally alive for all our children who will not have had the pleasure of knowing him.

Our art projects are designed to do just that. Gathered here are photos from Jet, from the issue of January 15, 2007, commemorating James Brown's music and cultural contributions to America. A waterfall card would be a good way to bring up the topic of soul music, share with those who may not have known him, and reminisce with those who did.

You will find the instructions for the waterfall card on
