Dear Jeanne, I enjoyed the discussion on normative expectations. Hearing everyone's input plus the examples made the concept more applicable especially my class mate who works at the nursing home who feels uncomfortable telling seniors what to do. This reminded me of how recently I have had older women that could be my mother, ask me to mentor them. I now know that my uncomfortability to this request is because it goes against what I've been socialized to accept as a normative expectation.
