Discussion Questions

  1. Is Fadwa's difficulty in passing her English exam so very different from students passing an exit exam in high school?

Consider that we are learning many things as we mature, and perhaps some of those things that matter make it hard to concentrate on ones that are less directly related to our goals. What if one of the army's objectives was to change some of Fadwa's and our teens goals? Perhaps it takes longer to reach divers goals at once?

  2. How do you fell abou the fact that Fadwa did not pass her final exam in English?

Consider how difficult it is for some of our students to pass the English writing test for graduation. Consider how much and what kind of practice is given in study for the test. Consider how much Fadwa grew, and how much of her cognitive energy such emotional growth took. Suggestions?
