Index of Topics on Site Resources, Fall 2006

I'll group these by topic as soon as I can get to it. August 25, 2006. Any of these may be used for your creative thinking assignment at CSUDH. jeanne

  • Dictionary of Art Terms, And more. Will elaborate later. jeanne:

    Link to Artlex

  • The Classical Tradition: Malthus, Marx, Weber & Durkheim By Frank W. Elwell, Rogers State Unversity. This book is provided for you free on the Internet, courtesy of Professor Elwell. If you're studying for the graduate comprehensive exams, might be a good idea to review macro theories here. Readable. jeanne

  • AP Multimedia Archive I have requested access to this. the User's Guide is all that we can get access to until I get approval. I discovered it when I was on the Middlebury blog site. Excellent source for current events analysis. jeanne

  • Generative Teaching of Comprehension Compiled in The Center by Gillian Scalzo and largely based on the work of Merlin C. Wittrock, UCLA.. Will give you a quick overview to Wittrock's work. Note that he's at UCLA. jeanne

  • Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International. Because of recent stem-cell research controversy, this is an urgent concern for 3 million americans with juvenile diabetes. A fundraising walk will be held in Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on 10/22/2006 at 8:00 AM. None near Kenosha that I saw, but you could check it out at the Chapterlist for Wisconsin, or you could put together your own walk. This is the kind of community-building activism that we are trying to promote. Even if there is no walk available, or you can't make the walk, we can work at building community awareness of this and other medical and mental health needs. This begs for some creative activity. jeanne

  • Contemporary Philosophy, Critical Theory and Postmodern Thought Maintained by Martin Ryder at the University of Colorado at Denver, School of Education. This is an outstanding resource. Martin Ryder gives links to academic resources that will let you sample and keep abreast of what's happening in current educational research. jeanne

  • Dear Habermas as Resource Note that your Online Weekly Journal is included in the Resources for Martin Ryder's Contemporary Philosophy, Critical Theory and Postmodern Thought. And bear in mind that long ago when we were first included, some sociologists told me that Critical Theory and Postmodern Thought didn't belong together. Thank you, Martin Ryder. jeanne

  • Paulo Freire Institute at UCLA. Close to CSUDH and academically respected, this is an institute we hope our students will aspire to work with.

  • Nicholas C. Burbules Web Site Excellent source of informative articles on educational philosophy and theory.
